"I want to be stereotyped, I want to be classified…" or so the hard-hitting words go in a fast yet melodic sort of way. It's just a song, only words grouped together, true, but I think there's something more to it. Arranged in the right way they really pack a punch. I don't know why we feel the need to classify things, or even what good it really is. Don't misunderstand; some labels are obviously helpful, without them folks would otherwise be lost. For instance in a parts house or marketplace setting, without labels, everything would have to be sold in big transparent bins, or we wouldn't know what was used without a list of ingredients. Okay in some situations, I suppose labels are quite helpful, but labels on folks or on their stuff or style - Is it really necessary? Does it actually tell you what it really is or is it just a name on a bin? Who knows?
